Industrial and Incubator Development

Projects referenced indicate work managed and/or completed by senior BBP LLC staff, including assignments by Basile and Prost when they were Principals and senior technical staff at other consulting firms.

BBP LLC and its senior staff have been involved in a wide variety of industrial and flex space projects. We have completed market and financial feasibility investigations, prepared development approaches and marketing plans, solicited and evaluated development proposals, negotiated development agreements, and packaged these projects on behalf of a broad range of public, private and quasi-public entities.

Industrial/Flex Business Parks.
Staff at BBP LLC have been involved in industrial and business parks that have been developed primarily on publicly owned property to stimulate and assist community-wide business growth. Some of the projects have been sponsored by minority-controlled development corporations, foundations and other interest groups with civic motivations.

Reuse Assessments
The firm’s expertise in reuse assessments of industrial properties covers both existing facilities and raw land. Our professionals have been nationally active in examining older industrial structures for their reuse potential, and have also worked on the reuse of the world’s largest single industrial plant (owned by Chrysler Corporation) into new manufacturing facilities under a massive urban redevelopment program in the Detroit area. Other structures have included steel mills, automobile manufacturing facilities and shipyard/port terminals formerly used by well-recognized U.S. industries. These assessments have also included reusing smaller structures (brick factory, rug company building, and textile mills), and institutional buildings (former military base, hospital).

Industrial land reuse assessments have also been undertaken on behalf of public entities. These assessments have covered conversion of waterfront property into a multi-use project which includes industrial uses (New Orleans) and reuse of existing quarry operations into underground warehouse space for climate- and temperature-controlled purposes (Louisville).

Areawide Industrial Analysis
In addition to these industrial-related efforts, numerous public entities have been provided with economic studies and strategies geared to understanding area-wide industrial/economic development potentials. These assessments often are conducted city-wide, along transportation corridors, along river basins and/or in multi-county portions of states. The assessments typically include completing educational and marketing strategies, recommending linkages to existing businesses and retraining employees laid off from business and industry.

Incubators and Accelerators
Staff at BBP LLC have significant experience in small business and industrial incubator projects which have been prepared for local jurisdictions, Chambers of Commerce, nonprofit development corporations, private developers, educational systems, for-profit development corporations and other public and private entities.
