Recreation Development
Projects referenced indicate work managed and/or completed by senior BBP LLC staff, including assignments by Basile and Prost when they were Principals and senior technical staff at other consulting firms.
The myriad opportunities offered by the recreational development industry are in direct response to the increasing public demand for leisure activity. North American society is growing older, and today’s maturing population is generally better educated and more physically fit than its predecessor. This requires more specialized and sophisticated recreational projects.
These evaluations in addition to covering market and financial feasibility concerns usually address risk management, the seasonal effects of demand, community impacts, governmental regulations and future trends in the recreational development industry. These trends often focus on discussions of location and energy; mobility, and finance; management and marketing.
Staff at BBP LLC have been involved in various types of recreational development which we have organized to cover outdoor and indoor recreational pursuits.
Outdoor Recreation Projects
Active recreational pursuits have included daily fee, municipal and private golf courses. Various components of resort development projects, particularly the linkage between residential development and support amenities is often addressed.
Since staff at BBP LLC have structured a number of waterfront projects, many marina facilities have been packaged with our assistance. These projects include both publicly and privately owned facilities, which generally have been open to the public. Dry storage, maintenance and repair facilities, restaurants and slips usually comprise these projects.
Passive and active outdoor facilities also have been developed, including various park facilities. These have included campgrounds, playing fields, hiking and biking trail systems and other outdoor pursuits.
Indoor Recreation Projects
A host of special facilities have also been packaged and include an indoor amusement facility at the Mall of America, the largest retail-entertainment center in the U.S. (Bloomington, MN), as well as some of the few film production studios outside California (New Orleans, LA and Beaufort, SC).
We also have long been involved in the creation of a world-class public/private development project involving recreation/entertainment uses on 30 acres including 650 feet of Boardwalk/Oceanfront property (Atlantic City, NJ).
Other indoor recreation projects have included the Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame (Cleveland, OH), the Carpenter Center for the Arts (Richmond, VA) and the University Performing Arts Center (Clemson, SC).
